The Osstell SmartPeg portfolio is continuously reviewed and updated to support new implant systems, expand compatibility, and incorporate design improvements where beneficial.

Following a recent review of the designs, SmartPegs associated with selected conical implant interfaces have been redesigned. Previously, these SmartPegs relied on the coronal top surface of the implant, creating a flat-to-flat connection. The updated designs now consistently engage the internal conical surface of the implant interface.

This improvement provides a more robust and reliable connection while reducing the risk of interference from hard or soft tissue overgrowth. The updated designs are also better suited for subcrestal implant placement.

Important information for existing users

Existing SmartPegs remain fully functional and can continue to be used. When it is time to reorder, we recommend transitioning to the updated SmartPeg design where applicable.

Some implant systems currently use one or more of the SmartPeg Types listed above but are not included in this design update. These implant systems should continue using their current SmartPeg as before.
